Relex Maintainability Prediction
software provides a solid framework for performing maintainability
analyses. The maintainability prediction software uses data
that you provide about the replaceable components in your product
or system to generate maintenance parameters and calculations,
including Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Mean Maintenance Manhours
per Repair (MMH/Repair), the Percent Isolation to a Single Replaceable
Item, and many others.

A maintainability
prediction analysis provides calculated information regarding various
aspects of maintenance. The goal of performing a Maintainability Analysis
is to determine the amount of time required to perform repairs and
maintenance tasks. In other words, if a system does fail, how long
will it take to fix it?
Relex gives its users the ability to perform a Maintainability Analysis based on standards. Relex supports MIL-HDBK-472 Procedure 2, 5A, and 5B, as well as generic maintenance procedures. Relex Maintainability then automatically performs all of the calculations associated with maintainability.
For instance, a common maintainability calculation is Mean Time to Repair (or MTTR). This is the most common measurement for a maintainability prediction, and is the mean time to repair all of the removable items in a system for corrective maintenance. More importantly, MTTR can then be used in a reliability prediction in order to calculate "availability". Availability is the probability that an item is an operable state at any time, and is based on a combination of failure rate and MTTR. Because Maintainability is integrated with Reliability Prediction in Relex, these types of calculations can be performed nearly effortlessly.
