Introducing Relex Reliability Studio 2007 v2!
The most recent release of Relex’s Reliability Studio platform adds an impressive array of new features designed to enhance and advance your analysis activities. Building on the solid, proven Studio framework, Relex Reliability Studio 2007 v2 introduces new technology-driven features along with a wide-ranging list of new capabilities.
New in Relex Reliability Studio 2007 v2
Relex Reliability Studio 2007 v2 includes a number of new and noteworthy features, continuing the tradition of ensuring that Relex remains the tool of choice for reliability professionals. A highlight of some of the new enhancements you will find in Studio 2007 v2 are noted below.
Revamped Start Page. The starting point for your Relex Reliability Studio activities, the Relex Start Page, is completely revamped for 2007 v2. The new layout and functions offer the ability for more team-based collaboration and communication. The Start Page is comprised of several key areas. The Most Recently Used (MRU) list remains for quick one-click access to your Relex Projects and data files. A new Announcements section enables team members to post messages for the group, as well as mark important announcements as High Priority. The new Links section allows you to add links to web sites or documents for easy access. Additionally, in Enterprise Editions of Relex Reliability Studio, Workflow and Alert sections are available. The Workflow section allows you to view all your workflow messages through a pop-up viewer and then enables you to go directly to the associated Relex data via a hyperlink. The Alert section operates in a similar manner, displaying a quick pop-up view of your alerts and then enabling you to bring up the associated data via a hyperlink.
New Filter Bar. Filtering your data is now even quicker and easier with the addition of the Relex Filter Bar. The Filter Bar appears at the top of your tables to allow quick sorting and filtering on columns in your tables. Additionally, you can save the filters created in the Filter Bar for later reuse. For expansive data viewing, this new feature will quickly become indispensable.

Telcordia Issue 2 Support. The newest prediction standard released, Telcordia Issue 2 SR-332 "Reliability Prediction Procedure for Electronic Equipment", is supported in Relex Studio 2007 v2. Telcordia Issue 2 incorporates a number of new modifications to Telcordia Issue 1 including:
- Many device generic failure rates have been updated.
- Failure rate models have been added for a number of new components, including several fiber optic devices.
- Failure rate calculations can be performed at different confidence levels. Prior Bellcore/Telcordia standard failure rates were performed at a 90% upper confidence level. The confidence level for your failure rate calculations is now user-definable.
- The "Method" terminology removed from the Telcordia 1 standard has been brought back for Telcordia 2.
- The "First Year Multiplier" has been renamed the "Early Life Factor."
- The Quality Level III factor has been changed from 0.9 to 0.8.
Technology Advancements in iArchitect. Relex Reliability Studio iArchitect, Relex's zero-client, web-based application for FMEA and FRACAS activities, once again has been taken to a new level. Built on AJAX technology, Relex iArchitect 2007 v2 offers faster, more efficient entry, viewing, and updating of your FMEA and FRACAS data. This advanced technology greatly enhances your FMEA and FRACAS experience, providing a more feature-rich, responsive, Windows-like look and feel.
An extensive list of capabilities has been added to Relex iArchitect, including:
- Support for FMEA, FRACAS and User calculations
- Updated New Project Wizard for easy creation of new FMEA and FRACAS Projects
- Find and Replace abilities on data entry tables and forms
- Data entry tables support column resizing
- Graphs can be printed, and can also now be saved to JPG files
- Data entry trees support multiple columns
Enhanced FRACAS Features. Two new significant features have been added to Relex Studio FRACAS.
First, a new FRACAS data entity, Problems, has been introduced. Problems enable you to group similar Incidents together into a single Problem to allow analysis and closeout to be handled more effectively and efficiently. Incidents can be grouped into Problems through easy drag-and-drop methods, and you can view, edit, and close out Problems in the same rich user interface employed for FRACAS Incidents. The use of Problems is optional, so you can set up your FRACAS processes to best suit your needs.
Secondly, newly introduced FRACAS Subtables enable you to establish one-to-many relationships with your FRACAS data. This advanced feature provides for superior flexibility for your FRACAS analyses. As an example, you could use the new Subtable feature to list Team members responsible for root cause analysis and close out of a particular Incident.
Additionally, a new FRACAS template is available to support an implementation of an 8D FRACAS process.
A Wide Array of New Capabilities. A number of new enhancements are offered in Relex Reliability Studio 2007 v2. To note a few:
- Relex RBD now computes the Equivalent Failure Rate (EFR).
- The Alert capability has been extended to FMEA analyses.
- A new classification for RDF/IEC-based components has been added for a more streamlined approach for this prediction standard.
- New prediction categories for Software and Fiber Optic Devices have been added for more efficient modeling of those components.
- System Tree Configurations can be imported and exported.
- A quick Close Project command is available in the Project Navigator.
- Data entry fields can be designated as hyperlinks.
- A new Add a Field Wizard provides a quick and easy method for adding data fields.
- Workflow and Alerts now support data fields in the “To” and “Cc” fields for more flexible handling of email recipients when alerts or changes to workflow state are triggered.
- User calculations have been extended to support multi-level calculations.
