Shedding New Light on Reliability Analysis PRISM is a standard for MTBF prediction and system reliability analysis, originally developed by the Reliability Analysis Center (RAC). Relex has incorporated the RAC PRISM standard into our existing suite of reliability tools, creating a powerful module that offers the best of both worlds. Relex PRISM enables longtime RAC PRISM users to incorporate Relex features and capabilities into PRISM analyses, as well as allowing Relex users to use PRISM analysis techniques in analyses using other reliability standards. Additionally, failure rate information calculated using Relex PRISM is available to reference in Relex RBD, Relex Fault Tree, Relex FMEA and all other Relex modules. Relex's common database enables all Relex modules (and reliability models) to instantly share calculated data values. This level of interactivity and shared functionality is only available in the Relex Reliability Software Suite. Relex PRISM enables you to apply process grades to your reliability analyses. Process grades account for the process-related variability around the assembly or system failure rate. They can modify your base reliability estimate for several different failure causes, including:
Questions you answer about the design, system, and other parameters establish a scoring profile whose total value is translated into a quantitative pi factor multiplier that impacts the predicted failure rate.
Bayesian analysis enables Relex PRISM to use test and field reliability data at the assembly level to enhance predicted component failure rates with real-life experiences and field failures. This allows you to integrate current reliability data when the actual failure rate prediction is calculated, thereby optimizing the reliability prediction based on valid historical data. Bayesian analysis accounts for the quantity of empirical data by weighting large datasets more heavily than small datasets. Relex PRISM software allows you to incorporate predecessor data - using the reliability prediction of a previous product (or version) and its observed failure rate when estimating the reliability of a new product or system. This enables you to rely on both historical information as well as predicted information in calculating the overall reliability of the product or system. PRISM Allows EPRD & NPRD Part Selection Relex PRISM software gives you the ability to select parts from both the Electronic Parts Reliability Data (EPRD) and Nonelectronic Parts Reliability Data (NPRD) sets provided by the Reliability Analysis Center (RAC). EPRD provides failure data for a wide variety of components, including actuators, connectors, optoelectronic devices, inductive components, relays, solenoids, pumps, and more. Access to this substantial failure rate and reliability data greatly enhances your prediction analyses. Relex PRISM automates the merging process of both data sets, displaying NPRD and EPRD parts in the same table. Both EPRD and NPRD parts can be used in the other modules in the Relex Reliability Software Suite.
Relex PRISM also has a RACRates model for calculating the reliability of software. This model can estimate failures in your system due to software defects. Complete Integration with Relex Modules and Reliability Models Relex is the only set of reliability tools to incorporate the PRISM reliability standard. This integration provides benefits and increased capabilities in two ways.
Relex PRISM software provides an unprecedented level of power and flexibility for your analyses with the newest reliability standard. |
